The Lagenomai (pronounced: lah-ghen-oh-may) Creative Arts Award is an annual scholarship given in memory of Dolores Marjorie Trawinski, a woman who lived with creativity in her hands and compassion in her heart. Named after a beloved Jimmy Buffett song, Lagenomai, the award reflects Dolores’s belief in the power of imagination, joy, and living life with heart.
Like Buffett, Dolores found magic in the everyday — in the rhythm of waves, the color of a handmade quilt, the laughter of children, and the shared experience of creating something meaningful. Her art was never solitary; it was about bringing people together, spreading joy, and making life a little more beautiful for everyone around her.
Each year, the Lagenomai Creative Arts Award is presented to a graduating senior who embodies the same spirit that Dolores carried throughout her life.
The recipient will be a student who:
This scholarship is not about accolades or awards — it’s about heart, effort, and the quiet ways in which artists change the world around them. The Lagenomai Award honors a student who uses their artistic gifts as Dolores did: with generosity, joy, and a deep desire to make life brighter for others.
